Description
Interreg is a key instrument of the European Union (EU) that strengthens cooperation between regions and EU countries. As part of the EU's cohesion policy, Interreg plays an important role in promoting regional development, cohesion, and reducing economic inequality. During the 2021–2027 period, Interreg focuses on addressing current challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and social integration.
Budget
The current period's budget of €10 billion highlights the evolution of Interreg, which includes enhanced cooperation with partner countries through Interreg IPA and Interreg NEXT, as well as a dedicated focus on the EU's outermost regions and neighboring countries.

Six cross-border programs encourage cooperation with Ukraine:
